The industry that you’re a part of, the active leisure and learning sector, contributes some £8.6 billion to the UK economy and is growing rapidly. The sector employs over 634,000 people1, as well as nearly two million volunteers. Sub sectors included in the scope are sport and recreation, health and fitness, playwork, the outdoors and caravans.

The Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure was developed in partnership with some of the key employers in the industry and is the first qualification developed by employers, being taught in mainstream schools and colleges.

In order for the qualification to bridge the gap between academic and practical, it consists of 50% applied learning, which can be taught by those working in the industry.

An example of a typical work related learning day for a diploma student, can be found in this DVD we have produced.
