Education Champions
The Youth Sport Trust has been involved with the development of the Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure from January 2007.
They are represented on the Diploma Development Partnership (DDP) and are working collaboratively with SkillsActive to ensure that key messages regarding the Diploma effectively reach the target audience. The Diploma offers young people the opportunity to personalise their learning to suit their needs and offers clear progression pathways. The mix of class work and hands-on applied learning will give young people the skills and knowledge needed in their chosen pathway.
This is a real opportunity to ensure that young people have the employability skills needed to enter the ever changing world of work in the 21st Century.
The mission of the Youth Sport Trust is to build a brighter future for young people by enhancing the quality of their Physical Education and sporting opportunities. The breadth of the diploma goes wider than PE and sport but it will add to the rich provision of sport related accreditations that our young people can access, giving them a real choice for their future.
They share the vision of the DDP that this Diploma line will also help to professionalise the sport and active leisure industry and to strive towards a fitter and healthier nation by 2020. This also supports the Youth Sport Trusts desire to help our young people to live healthy and active lives and be the best that they can be.
Youth Sport Trust are really pleased to be involved in the future of this pathway for young people.
