Specialist Learning catalogue updates
In lead up to the launch of the Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure in September, new qualifications have been added to the Specialist learning catalogue. Additional and Specialist learning (ASL) makes up a significant part of the Diploma delivery, it provides learners with high quality breadth and/or depth of curriculum experience which does not duplicate Principal Learning. ASL is based on solid, evidence-based progression opportunities for learners who want to progress into full-time further and/or higher education or employment with training. The Specialist Learning catalogue provides a detailed list of the qualifications available to learners covering the broad range of industries and job roles involved within the Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure content, some examples include:
• Certificate in Event and Match Day Stewarding (1st for Sport)
• Award in Managing Sports Turf Areas (NPTC)
• Certificate in Personal Training (Active IQ)
• Certificate in Playwork (City & Guilds)
• Award in basic expedition leadership (Sport leaders UK)
• CYQ Certificate in Sports Massage (Central YMCA Qualifications)
The awarding bodies work in association with a variety of national governing bodies and comply with national occupational standards to create a qualification that offers the necessary training and development required by certain job roles.
