Gateway 4 results announced
The preliminary results of the Gateway 4 submissions from consortia to implement the Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure from September 2011 have been published by DCSF and can be found at the following address:

In all of the Diploma lines of learning, we have seen strong results across the country with around 70% of applications gaining at least conditional approval for a September 2011 and a further 25% gaining conditional approval for a September 2012 start. This will enable a significant expansion in the opportunities and learning routes available to our young people. The Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure has seen 34 consortia provisionally approved for September 2011 delivery, a regional breakdown can be found at the bottom of the page.
The Diploma Development Partnership (DDP) would like to congratulate those consortia who have been successful in being assigned a Category 1* i.e. ready to implement the Diploma immediately and/or with clear plans in place indicating how any gaps in staffing and resources will be addressed by September 2011. The DDP wish you every success in this new and exciting learning opportunity for young people.
Consortia who have been assigned Category 2, 3a or 3b* will have been given clear guidance by DCSF on what needs to be done to move forward to successful implementation in September 2011 or 2012. You will also have been given an opportunity to discuss your assessment with your regional co-ordinator/assessor, further information to follow.
*Category 1: recommended to go through for 2011 delivery with no conditions
*Category 2: recommended to go through for delivery from September 2011 with conditions that need to be met within 3 months (review June/July 2010)
*Category 3a/3b: recommended for Sept 2011 start if conditions are met within 6 months (in-depth review Oct/Nov 2010) or in 2012 if conditions are met within 12 months (reviews Oct/Nov 2010 and June/July 2011)
